About Out To Pasture Beef

In May of 2000, we purchased a vacant 80 acres with the goal of transitioning this land from row crop agriculture to an entire grass based farm.   We named our farm, “Out to Pasture Beef” to reflect what we wanted to do and the beef we wanted to produce.    We envisioned raising healthy cattle the way they had since the start of time.   After all, cows are herbivores, and they were designed to eat grass.   With Vic’s 30 year history working in agriculture conservation and Mary’s career in the health field, we had an interest and ultimately a passion for grass farming.  And that’s it.   That’s where it all began!

This was going to be home for producing exceptional, top notch beef.   We learned how to “read” the animals.   Which ones would have tender meat?  Which ones would have minimal gristle?    We created the best of the best herd of animals, starting with this guy right here!   Our cattle would never be given artificial hormones or antibiotic injections.   The fields they grazed on would never be sprayed with petroleum based fertilizers nor pesticides.   Our diverse pastures and shade trees have been like heaven on earth to our cattle.   They get unlimited access to clean well water and minerals sourced from the land and the sea.  They are never confined to a building, so our cattle get to skip to the next pasture or quality hay bale.   It’s a daily and delightful sight for the cows and us too!   We welcome you to take a look at our farm; home to Vic & Mary & our amazing herd of 40 or so Angus cattle.

Please join us in celebrating Out to Pasture Beef, now in its 12th year of operation!
